“Two years waiting and the fortnight at La Perode has gone in a flash. Have so enjoyed our holiday and the tranquility La Perode offers. Fabulous location and the most amazing pool area / summer kitchen were the standouts for us. But…. topping the list were the delightful Annie & Alec. Warm, welcoming, ever helpful and the most generous providers of endless figs and grapes, all home grown of course. Just wonderful.

“A huge thank you to Alec and Annie for your tremendous hospitality and for being the perfect hosts. We had a wonderful stay and the weather was great. We especially loved the beautiful pool area and found the kitchen to be very well equipped. We had lots of fun playing table tennis too. We walked to the village a few times – good exercise after all the delicious bread & cheese we consumed at lunchtimes. The Marche Gourmande night was a real highlight – like a massive street party where the whole community could eat, drink and even dance together. We tried to visit the Château L’Herme but it’s closed for renovation until further notice but totally recommend the Château De Losse which is strikingly beautiful & has magnificent gardens. It’s not too large and close-by (in Thonac). Les Eyzies is well worth a visit – not just for the museum but for some good souvenir shops (very nice silver jewellery). We also thoroughly enjoyed a visit to the Grotte de Rouffignac to see the fantastic drawings by the prehistoric people who lived in the area – the children will love the train ride but wrap up – it’s chilly. We arrived at 10.30 but couldn’t get the train until 2.30 so we spent time in nearby Plazac with it’s medieval church – well worth a visit! We’re very sorry to go but hope to return one day…

The gite has everything you need and the pool area is amazing, no need to go anywhere else it’s fully equipped, the village is a 20min walk with a lovely market and bars / restaurants. Thank you again for a lovely week and especially for accommodating Barney!!July 2022
“Thank you Alec & Annie, we have had a wonderful 2 weeks at La Perode. The house is very well equipped and had everything we needed. Fantastic pool area, also well equipped which allowed for full days by the pool! Thanks again for kindly helping us get medication and organising a doctor’s appointment for our young daughter, it really was appreciated and you both went out of your way to help with this. The complementary wine, pâté and home made jam were a lovely touch and the fresh cherries and vase of flowers were also very thoughtful. Thanks to Annie for the home-made sore throat remedies. Dave ‘enjoyed’ the pool games with Alec – we’ll call it a draw, shall we!! Thanks again to you both for being such lovely hosts! Looking forward to our next visit…
