“We have had a wonderful three weeks at La Perode and despite the unseasonable weather we had a fantastic time! We loved the pool area, BBQ and outdoor living space - our three young daughters had hours of fun splashing, playing and looking for Bambi! Highlights of the holiday included local caves, markets (especially Rouffignac night market), horse riding (nearby pony club was a huge success at only €10 including grooming and a horse ride) and several local restaurants. Plus ice creams at nearby Les Eyzies.

“We managed to combine our aim of lounging around by the pool with a few trips out - our 14km canoe trip from Roquegouffre worked well combined with a trip to Sarlat. Went to Rouffignac cave but have a look at the book in the bookcase first as it will make more sense. All in all a very enjoyable time and will have many memories. Many thanks to a very light touch from Alec and Annie.

“We have had a fantastic week at La Perode. The house and pool areas are a great set-up, we spent many hours by the pool and didn’t venture much further! The pool was a hit with the children, whose swimming has improved a lot. Thanks for being so friendly and helpful to make our stay as pleasurable as possible. We particularly loved: BBQ’s & dining by the pool, the night market, Bergerac wine (we bought many more like your welcome gift), lovely countryside, the bike loan, Sarlat (the only time we went sightseeing). We wish you all the best with your renovations & thanks for a smashing week.

“What a wonderful time we’ve had! Well worth travelling from South Africa, Canada and the UK to spend two weeks in heaven! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home and the pleasures of the Perigord. Loved Sarlat, Fleurac, St. Leon and our old favourite Brantome. Gouffre de Padirac, Rocamadour and St Emillion topped off a wonderful two weeks. Back home tomorrow we will be thinking we should have drunk more wine and stayed up even later by the pool. Thank you - we’ll see you again.

“The weather has been lovely, allowing us lots of time by the pool. This was our first holiday with all the family, including two grandchildren aged 18 mths and 6 mths. Last night we saw one of the wild pigs in the woods plus about 12 piglets - an amazing sight. Thanks to Annie & Alec for being so helpful and informative.

“We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our stay here despite the rainy weather. The wildlife has been a real highlight for us - sitting outside on the mild evenings watching the birds, then the bats, was pure bliss. Not to mention all the wonderful noises from the cicadas, frogs, cuckoos and owls. We’ll have to come back to have a listen to that elusive Nightingale. I would definitely recommend the aquarium at Le Bugue for a drizzly day although I’m very glad we did get some sunshine as the pool area is completely amazing. All the very best for your continued renovation - thank you for a warm welcome and for all your help and advice.
We had a lovely family holiday at La Perode. The property was exactly as described on the website. It was clean, spacious and contained everything we could possibly need. The pool area particularly was wonderful and we had hoped to spend most of our time there, but unfortunately the weather was disappointing and we managed only a couple of visits. However on other days we visited the lovely Chateau et Jardins de Losse, a great aquarium at Le Bugue and the Rouffignac Caves, all thoroughly recommended. We loved wandering around the extensive grounds spotting the many different birds and butterflies. In the evenings we enjoyed sitting out with a glass of wine listening to the cicadas and other night sounds. Alec and Annie were the perfect hosts - always there to help but never intrusive. They are very kind and friendly. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives and we hope return one day. (via HomeAway)

“We’ve had a lovely time at La Perode - Oscar (our Golden Retriever) loved all the nearby rivers and lakes. We enjoyed the pool area very much and the local scenery is lovely. Alec and Annie were most helpful and friendly, helping to guide us to some great places to visit. We hope to return one day…..
