Private Swimming Pool

During your stay you will enjoy exclusive use of the large 12m x 6m heated swimming pool, which has wide roman steps at one end to facilitate easy access for kids and tentative adults alike. Pool depth varies from 1m to 1.5m so it is deep enough to dive in at one end but not so deep that kids are overwhelmed and ball games become far more enjoyable. From the 2022 season the pool now also benefits from a fully automated cover for ease of use and which helps to maintain a comfortable water temperature.

There is a substantial pantiled abri (shelter) within this 250m² area that is fitted out with a summer kitchen (complete with hot and cold running water) to facilitate the preparation and cooking of meals. A serious top-of-the-range Weber gas BBQ with side burner can handle meals for a small army and a large modern fridge is provided for food storage and the chilling of those refreshing drinks. The whole kitchen is fully equipped with cooking utensils and unbreakable serving ware which should overall encourage everyone to enjoy total relaxation within this large and partially shaded space. In all, there is little need to ever leave the poolside area, should you so choose!

The whole area is completely enclosed by a norm-compliant security fence which, together with the child-proof gated access, provides complete peace of mind for parents with younger children. Completely sheltered from the south side and enjoying an elevated position, you are assured of privacy and security in equal parts, and being remote from sensitive neighbours you are unlikley to disturb anyone with your partying exuberance…

This leisure area also sports table tennis and other games facilities and there are plenty of chairs and loungers for sun-worshipers alongside shady nooks for the more sensitive of skin. The hot shower, toilet and beautiful aspect may well result in most of your time being spent in this well-appointed area…

Two years waiting and the fortnight at La Perode has gone in a flash. Have so enjoyed our holiday and the tranquility La Perode offers. Fabulous location and the most amazing pool area / summer kitchen were the standouts for us. But…. topping the list were the delightful Annie & Alec. Warm, welcoming, ever helpful and the most generous providers of endless figs and grapes, all home grown of course. Just wonderful.

A huge thank you to Alec and Annie for your tremendous hospitality and for being the perfect hosts. We had a wonderful stay and the weather was great. We especially loved the beautiful pool area and found the kitchen to be very well equipped. We had lots of fun playing table tennis too. We walked to the village a few times – good exercise after all the delicious bread & cheese we consumed at lunchtimes. The Marche Gourmande night was a real highlight – like a massive street party where the whole community could eat, drink and even dance together. We tried to visit the Château L’Herme but it’s closed for renovation until further notice but totally recommend the Château De Losse which is strikingly beautiful & has magnificent gardens. It’s not too large and close-by (in Thonac). Les Eyzies is well worth a visit – not just for the museum but for some good souvenir shops (very nice silver jewellery). We also thoroughly enjoyed a visit to the Grotte de Rouffignac to see the fantastic drawings by the prehistoric people who lived in the area – the children will love the train ride but wrap up – it’s chilly. We arrived at 10.30 but couldn’t get the train until 2.30 so we spent time in nearby Plazac with it’s medieval church – well worth a visit! We’re very sorry to go but hope to return one day…

Just to say what an amazing week we had!! It was worth the wait!! (Covid)
It was the most relaxing week - Alec and Annie were fantastic hosts!!
The gite has everything you need and the pool area is amazing, no need to go anywhere else it’s fully equipped, the village is a 20min walk with a lovely market and bars / restaurants. Thank you again for a lovely week and especially for accommodating Barney!!

We had a wonderful 10 days staying at La Perode. Annie and Alec went out of their way to make sure that we had a great stay. We’ve loved the pool, the BBQ’s, the wildlife… The local area has been great to explore with the children. Just wish we could stay longer!!! See you next time.
